AMENDED Fringe Benefit Rates for July 1, 2004 through June 30, 2005


The following AMENDED fringe benefit rates will become effective July 1, 2004 for the Doctoral Cluster Institutions (UW-Madison and UW-Milwaukee) and UW-Extension, and will be used when charging the employer�s contribution to fringe benefits on all new and on-going extramural projects.  The Faculty/Academic Staff and Classified rates have been reduced by a half point each from the levels announced in our January 14, 2004 Notice.   This reduction resulted from our cognizant audit agency�s decision not to approve our calculated rates which were developed to reduce a projected deficit in each of the above categories at the end of the 2004-2005 fiscal year.  We hope their decision will not produce a larger rate increase next year.

Applications already submitted using the rates announced in our January 14, 2004 Notice need no further action as sponsors will allow this minor rebudgeting if projects are funded at the higher fringe benefit rates.
