FROM:

SUBJECT:
Fringe Benefit Rates for July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023

The following fringe benefit rates will become effective July 1, 2022 for UW-Madison and will be used when charging the employer's contribution to fringe benefits on all new and on-going extramural projects. These rates will also be used for those former UW-Extension units which have been transferred to UW System.

Regular Faculty and Academic Staff 36.6%
University Staff 36.6%
Research Associates and Grad Interns 22.0%
Research Assistants, Project Assistants, Teaching Assistants, Pre-Doc Fellows and/or Trainees 21.7%
Post-Doc Fellows and/or Trainees 12.6%
Limited Term Employees (LTE's) 10.0%
Ad Hoc Program Specialists, Undergraduate Assistants and Undergraduate Interns 7.10%
Student Hourly Employees 1.8%

Rates are based on the actual costs of benefits paid during the fiscal year July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022. Increases or decreases in the rates are due to DHHS’ required methodology for the handling of previous years’ under- or over-recovery of actual costs.

The specific components for each rate are detailed in a schedule that has been published at: https://rsp.wisc.edu/chap4/rn/rn22-2t.cfm

We appreciate your assistance in assuring that all projects with an anticipated beginning date of July 1, 2022 or later utilize the above rates.
