The following fringe benefit rates are effective for the period beginning July 1, 2026 for the University of Wisconsin–Madison and will be used when charging the employer's contribution to fringe benefits on all new and ongoing extramural projects.
| Regular Faculty and Academic Staff | 34.7% |
| University Staff | 43.1% |
| Research Associates and Grad Interns | 25.3% |
| Research Assistants, Project Assistants, Teaching Assistants, Pre-Doc Fellows and/or Trainees | 20.7% |
| Post-Doc Fellows and/or Trainees | 15.8% |
| Limited Term Employees (LTE's) | 10.1% |
| Ad Hoc Program Specialists, Undergraduate Assistants and Undergraduate Interns | 14.6% |
| Student Hourly Employees | 1.9% |
Rates are based on the actual costs of benefits paid during the fiscal year July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025. Increases or decreases in the rates are due to DHHS' required methodology for the handling of previous year's under- or over-recovery of actual costs.
Note: Per guidance from CAS, we are using the submitted proposed rates. Final FY2027 rates approved by DHHS CAS may differ, and any necessary adjustments will be made going forward.
The specific components for each rate are detailed in a schedule that has been published at https://rsp.wisc.edu/chap4/rn/rn26-2t.cfm
We appreciate your assistance in assuring that all projects with an anticipated beginning date of July 1, 2026 or later utilize the above rates.
