Research Security: Several federal agencies require that individuals included in proposals and/or awards complete Research Security (RS) training. The table below describes individual agency requirements. In general, PIs and senior/key personnel must complete Research Security (RS) training within 12 months prior to proposal submission. UW-Madison personnel must take the training available in Canvas.
Other Support: In addition, the NIH requires that senior/key personnel receive training to understand their responsibility to disclose all resources made available in support of their research endeavors. (See NOT-OD-25-133) Taking RS training satisfies this requirement for Other Support training.

To facilitate the AOR certification for RS training, we ask that departments verify in the Training Information Lookup Tool (TILT) that each individual listed as PI or senior/key personnel in the proposal has completed RS training. Please take a screen shot from TILT showing that the individual has completed training and upload it to the RAMP FP record. We ask that Deans’ offices verify RAMP for RS training completion records prior to routing the FP to RSP for submission.
Individuals at collaborating organizations (not associated with UW-Madison) who are listed as senior/key personnel on UW-Madison proposals may take training available from the SECURE center. The individual must print the completion certificate at the end of the training and provide it to UW-Madison. Please upload the certificate in the RAMP record.
